The price reduction is valid for the April–June 2025 adjustment.
Customers would receive a bill relief of Rs55.87 billion.
The tariff will be in effect from August to October of 2025.

ISLAMABAD: As part of the quarterly tariff adjustment for the April–June 2025 period, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has authorized a cut in power costs of Rs1.89 per unit.

On Thursday, the power regulating body said that it had sent its ruling to the federal government for official notification.

Following notification, all electricity distribution companies (Discos), including K-Electric customers, would be subject to the updated pricing.

According to a notification, the change will appear in the August invoices.

It is anticipated that the price reduction, which will take effect for three months, from August to October 2025, will save power users nationwide a total of Rs55.8 billion.

Under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism, Nepra announced a reduction in the electricity pricing for K-Electric users of Rs4.03 per unit last month, while the rest of the country received a reduction of 50 paisa per unit.

All qualified consumers’ electricity bills for July showed the relief.

In a further step to lessen the cost on electricity users, the federal government eliminated the provincial electricity tariff on power bills on July 1 and formally informed all chief ministers of the decision in June.
