Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed has advised former national cricket team captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan to consider retiring from international cricket.

The statement from the former Test cricketer came after the PCB announced the Pakistan squad for the three-nation T20 series and the Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

It is to be noted that Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Naseem Shah are not included in the Pakistan squad announced for the three-nation T20 series and Asia Cup.

In his message on social media, Tanveer Ahmed addressed Babar and Rizwan and said, that I am sorry to both of them that if you feel that you are not respected, then retire from international cricket. There is an example of Virat Kohli in front of us.

Tanveer Ahmed also raised questions on the team selection, saying that Fakhar Zaman was forcibly included in the team so that Babar Azam could be kept out.

It may be recalled that Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan last played a T20 match for the national team in December 2024 against South Africa in Centurion.
If Babar and Rizwan play like others, they will play T20: Aaqib Javed

While announcing the squad in Lahore, national team selector and Director High Performance Aaqib Javed said that if T20 is to be played with a straight bat, then T20 should not be played. Saim, Sahibzada, and Fakhar Zaman are playing well. No one should doubt them.
