Sahiwal (UPA): A grand three-day “Kissan Mela” (Farmers’ Festival) will be held from March 23 to March 25 in Chichawatni, Sahiwal. Organized by the Kisan Board Pakistan, the festival aims to promote agriculture, introduce farmers to modern agricultural technology, highlight cultural traditions, and engage the younger generation in positive activities. Kisan Board Pakistan, one of the country’s oldest farmers’ organizations established in 1968, will introduce farmers and landowners to modern agricultural machinery, equipment, fertilizer and spray technologies, biogas plants, and solar tube wells so that higher yields can be achieved at lower costs.
The event will include Jashn-e-Baharan, flower exhibitions, displays of rare plants and crops, and an Agriculture Expo showcasing modern agricultural technologies and equipment. Cultural and sports competitions will also be organized, including international Kabaddi matches, volleyball, tug-of-war, tractor power shows, and milk competitions of buffaloes, cows, and goats, with valuable prizes for winners. A major attraction will be the Horse and Cattle Show, where rare breeds of horses, bulls, and other livestock will be displayed and the best animals and riders will receive special awards.
According to the schedule, the festival will formally open on March 23 with local Kabaddi matches and tug-of-war competitions. On March 24, the Horse and Cattle Show and other cultural activities will continue. The final of the International Kabaddi Match will be played on March 25 at 3:00 PM. Special arrangements including a fair market and children’s rides will also be available for families. The Commissioner Sahiwal, Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal, Assistant Commissioner Chichawatni, and senior officials from the Agriculture, Livestock, and Sports Departments of Punjab will attend as chief guests. Kisan Board Pakistan has invited farmers, landowners, youth, media representatives, and the general public from across the country to participate in this historic event.
